After the occupation of Tibet by Chinese in 1959 His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Many Tibetans were compeleted to seek refuge in India and other countries. The Central Tibetan Administration was set up to look after the needs of the Tibetans in exil and to preserve the Tibetan cultural heritage. One of the first pronouncements made by His Holiness the Dalai Lama showed that he had already envisaged a process of democratization. In February 1960 at Both Gaya. His Holiness the Dalai Lama outlined a detailed program designed to introduce the exiled Tibetans about the practice of democracy.
The Most historic event took place when on 10th March 2011 during the 52nd Anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day His Holiness the Dalai Lama announced his retirement from the poltical position and transfered all his poltical authorities to the elected Kalan Tripa ( Chief of the Cabinet) of the Central Tibetan Administration.
This book contains the speeches made by His Holiness the Dalai Lama from 1959-1989. These detailed historical speeches show how-hard His Holiness workd to push his people to safekeep the ancient Tibetan tradition to get modern education and to work for the just cause of freedom and dignity.
